Hear how Hueneme Elementary School District developed self-paced, engaging, professional development for our teachers AND administrators. We will share how we designed, implemented and launched a PD program, COAST (Collaborative Online Self-paced Activity-based Training), that supports innovative, choice-driven professional development, district-wide. By pairing an admin game with a teacher game, we are able to build collaboration, motivation, and encourage all to work toward a common, yet differentiated, goal. Collaborative, Online, Activity-based, Self-paced Training (COAST) includes an admin game to expose administrators to tools they can use for their own productivity and staff collaboration, as well as build their knowledge base in educational technology. It also includes a teacher game to introduce teachers to tools that can be used with their students and allow them to access the learning they need right when they need it. Hueneme COAST is a program that incentivizes learners with badges, technology, and provides evidence of learning. Hear about how the fun and friendly competition and motivating incentives have impacted learning, built camaraderie, and improved technology proficiency.
